South Whitlock Resort, a family-owned and operated establishment, has a rich history. Originally a family ranch, it has now  transformed into the beautiful South Whitlock Resort. We have deep roots in this land, with five generations proudly calling it home. Although the original ranch buildings no longer stand, the campground boasts rows of trees, planted and cared for by Pat's parents as the original shelter belt; they now add to the beauty of the resort.

In 1982, Pat and Randy Harer took a leap of faith and purchased the land from her family, embarking on an exciting journey to develop the resort. Their first steps involved constructing a convenience store and enlisting the help of skilled contractors to build an essential sewer, water, and electrical infrastructure. Mobile homes were then moved onto lots in the middle of a picturesque pasture, creating a vibrant summer mobile home community.

Additionally, a motel unit was relocated to the site, adding to the resort's offerings. The following year, they acquired a supper club in Grenville, SD, which was skillfully transported to its current location, adding an additional dining option for visitors in the area. As the years passed, South Whitlock Resort continued to evolve and grow, with enhancements to the land and buildings and the welcoming of new generations of both family and guests.
